The list of foods to avoid while pregnant is insane. Between the "offical" list and all the internet rumors it seems like you can't eat anything. Not that I am paying too much attention to these lists.

BTW, one of the items on the internet rumors list? Pinneapples. WTH?

So with each of my kids, I did a big time exposure to a no-no within the first few weeks before I knew I was pregnant. :)

With Amelia, I bleach washed a basement while we were finishing it ourselves.

With Katie, I painted a small bathroom twice.

The paint thing seems weird to me. If you are using Latex paint (The most common) why would you even worry? I mean, unless you paint for a living, then the exposure might be enough to cause concerns. Plus the solvents used to cleanup the paint is more of a problem, right? It isn't like they put lead in paint anymore.

I plan on painting the baby's room this summer.

I would have ventilated better with fans, etc. if I had known I was pregnant. I just kind of slammed in there and whipped it out without doing hazmat level protections.

Seriously, people are so paranoid. ;)

Right now I am writing a product selector for 3M that let's you know what protection you should use for different projects. Even not pregnant they have three respirators, three eye protectors and three kinds of gloves.


Also, did you know you should wear a dust mask while dusting?

My daughter who I breastfed for 13 months has allergies.
My daughter who I pumped for 10 months then switched to formula? No allergies (except light seasonal, which everyone in Atlanta gets - we go above 5000 in pollen for a few weeks here.)

I was breastfed until 10 months and I have a bunch of allergies. My brother, who my mom couldn't produce enough milk for and switched to formula and rice cereal at 3 months, no allergies at all.

You can't really control for most of this stuff.

I painted basically an entire house while pregnant with my twins. they did not come out funny colors.
