I really want a netbook. Do I need a netbook? No but it would be so awesome to have a little computer to be on while I am in the living room or something to watch movies on while I am in bed.
I've been thinking about getting one too. A lot of them are too cramped to really be usable at all, but the 10.5-11" ones are not bad, and some of them have higher screen resolutions, which is a big selling point for me.
It would look extremely dorky I'm sure, but I think I could rig it up so that I could use it at the gym to watch movies while I work out, by sticking it on the little shelf meant for magazines or small books. Not sure if it's worth it though, but the crap on TV there is, well, crap.
