I really want a netbook. Do I need a netbook? No but it would be so awesome to have a little computer to be on while I am in the living room or something to watch movies on while I am in bed.

I want one, too. I almost bought one the night before the trip, but I knew I'd waste my trip fiddling with it. A nice Asus EEE PC 1000HE. Decent-sized keyboard and battery life.

EXACTLY. I would get a new purse and just carry it around with me. I don't like smartphones very much but I would use a tiny computer.

I wasn't super enthusiastic about them until I saw one in person.

Now I totally do NOT want one. Yeah, I'm a big fan of smaller laptops (and yeah, your laptop is just WAY too big), but netbooks are just friggin tiny. The keyboard on them is less than useless. I'll stick with my 13" laptop, thankyouverymuch. Least it has a fullsize keyboard and a screen you can, you know, have more than one window open on at once.

I tend to use smaller keyboards because of my hand, so the keyboard isn't too much of a concern. However, the size of the monitor might be. That is sort of what is keeping me from getting one but it is so cute.

I love it. It was a little hard to get used to the smaller screen (especially since my work computer is GINORMOUS in comparison), and it still grates on my nerves a little, but overall, I'm a big fan. It probably wouldn't be good as the sole computer for someone who does gaming or something like that, but it's perfect for what I use it for. I do miss the CD drive, but I can watch movies in other formats if I really need to.

I still used my old one occasionally, and it's still the only CD drive we even have in the whole house, so I kind of wish it had one. But my old laptop is still semi-functional, so it's not a big deal.

That is more or less the motivation for every netbook sold thus far. I basically got one so I could have a tiny computer to use while watching football.

I kind of want a bigger laptop now, though! The screen on mine didn't bother me at all or about a year but now it bugs me to death how small it is.

I have an HP Mini 1000. Cute little thing, typing takes getting a bit used to. $330 at Best Buy, not a bad deal. Although I should've ponied up more for the one with built-in 3G service.

Battery life, though, isn't all that great... really not much better than my aging Macbook Pro 15". I haven't ordered the 6-cell battery pack for it yet (comes with a 3-cell battery, and gets all of about 3 hours out of it.)

I've worked on two of them and the keyboard is WAY too tiny for my sausage fingers. I don't like them. My running line is, "Look, it's a computer. Or it will be when it grows up."

I like smaller keyboards and I have pretty small hands so that isn't too much a of problem. My laptop keyboard is actually too small for me.

I wouldn't program on it, I have a hard time programming with only one screen now, but it would be nice for IMing and such.

I've been thinking about getting one too. A lot of them are too cramped to really be usable at all, but the 10.5-11" ones are not bad, and some of them have higher screen resolutions, which is a big selling point for me.

It would look extremely dorky I'm sure, but I think I could rig it up so that I could use it at the gym to watch movies while I work out, by sticking it on the little shelf meant for magazines or small books. Not sure if it's worth it though, but the crap on TV there is, well, crap.
