That Conference
Jul. 26th, 2013 10:04 amLast night Wolf and I watched our MinneBar presentation to remember how it went and what we wanted to change. Most of the things I wanted to change was expanding upon the "Responsive Design" half that felt pretty rushed and less prepared than the first part.
What was nice about this is I feel much more confident going into a second one of these.
First, I sound like I knew what I was talking about and Wolf and I were good at making points that the other person forgot. We didn't practice at all and most of this was off the cuff, so this time we should be even better.
Second, I remember people being engaged during it but it was nice to see that people didn't spend the whole time on their phones. I do that at sessions where I am bored so I don't blame people for doing it, but for the most part people were listening to us.
Third, it is really valuable to watch yourself speaking. My pants were falling down, which I could tell while watching this, and I fit maternity pants much better now. (Also, as a side note, I have lost a lot of weight everywhere but my belly, I can see it)
Finally, while we were making notes, I kept bringing up the exact same things I brought up in the MinneBar session. It is good to know that I remember what I wanted to say and that I still feel the same way about it.
We are debating showing this clip at the beginning of the session because it pretty much sums up what it feels like to not be able to use new technology.
