so comcast bought out road runner a while back, which really didn't change anything except my ip. now it looks like they are raising the price of internet-only service from $45 to $60 a month (and they will start charging for this crappy cable modem). i started to look at other services but it looks like a land line, dsl and internet service would be even more than $60 a month. i guess i didn't realize that my internet was actually cheaper than anything out there.

oh, another option is to get "basic" cable which with the cable internet would also be $60. it would be nice to be able to watch heroes without standing next to the tv holding the antenna up. i have to converse with Eric over this.

Update:
So it looks like we are going with the internet + basic cable. while we are at it we are going to move about routers, the mp3 server and other stuff.

Ahem...

If you have cable internet your cable will automagically carry basic cable and there is nothing they can do to stop it. Keep that under your hat.

If this isn't your happy, do you have clearwire out your way?

actually i tried it, i didn't get any cable or anything. maybe i'll try again, though i have to find a long cable again.

clearwire? if it is the wireless broadband place, i just looked up and no, they aren't here. :( feh, it is pricy but it isn't like i am going to live without it.

I think it is hysterical Clearwire bills it as wireless. The modem plugs in to your home electrical system.. so it really isn't wireless. That's funny.

i'm actually contemplating internet at home for school next semester, but not sure about the price (i'm also with comcast). i already have basic cable since i really like tv and it was impossible to get any signal with antenna. good to know there is a benefit...
