Foods to Avoid

The list of foods to avoid while pregnant is insane. Between the "offical" list and all the internet rumors it seems like you can't eat anything. Not that I am paying too much attention to these lists.

BTW, one of the items on the internet rumors list? Pinneapples. WTH?

A couple days ago when I was getting tested I was drinking a diet coke waiting for a blood test in a waiting room just for pregnant people. I got some looks.

However, I was trying to get rid of a migraine but they didn't know that.

If you were drinking a real coke, they'd give you looks as well, what with HFCS and all.

It is so funny. People really thing caffeine is almost as bad as alcohol in pregnancy but the doctor's tell you that anything under 300mg is fine.

I should get a flask with pop in it. That would be awesome.

Women in Europe (and also here) are encouraged to drink small amounts of alcohol when pregnant, half a glass of wine twice a week. Emel did this all through her pregnancy on the advice of her doctor.

I think most of these pregnancy rules are make-it-up-as-you-go-along. Ask one doctor, get one set of answers; ask another doctor, get another set.

I haven't wanted to drink at all. I just feel sort of hungover so it hasn't been a problem to avoid it. However, I might drink a little later on.


I totally agree, there isn't enough studies to tell you the facts and no one is going to do studies on pregnant women.
