Lotion

I bought a new brand of face lotion a few weeks ago. After about two weeks I realized my skin had a slight rash and was flaky. I stopped using it for a week to see if that helped and it did. I used it again today and my skin is a mess.

So, does anyone has suggestions on cheaper lotions.? I have one I like but it is $40 a bottle and I just can't justify that right now.

A dermatologist once recommended Purpose lotion to me (you can get it at the drug store). I used it for a really long time before I decided to switch out of boredom and it never gave me any problems. Plus it contains sunscreen.

I used Cetaphil daily moisturizer with SPF 15. It worked quite nicely and was $10 for a couple of months.

I like Aveeno. I used to use Olay stuff but it's gotten really pricey.

Aveeno is the stuff that is causing the issues. Do you want a half full bottle of it?

Yes, I will take it off your hands!

My mom's an Avon lady, and she's always giving me samples of stuff to use. This doesn't mean that I use Avon exclusively, but if I find something that's half decent, I'll use it over anything else, because of the great discount she gives me ;)

Currently, I use this one. It's fantastic.

I use Avalon Organics for mostly everything.

I like to have a full-spectrum sunscreen in my facial lotion - right now I'm using Neutrogena oil-free with SPF 35. Haven't had any problems with it so far!

Neutrogena Healthy Skin. Cause it has Neutro in the name. Anything that burns when you put it on right after shaving HAS to be good!

I use Target's Cetaphil knock-off and am really happy with it.
It's the "up&up" version of this:

Also, I'm so happy a friend slapped some sense into me and I stopped obsessing about finding oil-free moisturizers. My complexion has been way better.

Oh! I love knock-off brands.

My skin got much better when I started doing two things.
1) Using moisturizers that had oil in it.
2) stopped "washing" my face. I just rinse it off now and it has been great.

I haven't stopped washing my face entirely, but I did stop using "acne" stuff besides an occasional (once or twice a week) application of a prescription cream. I do have to wash the derby off, so I use an exfoliating, but mild face wash after that and usually a very gentle cleanser in the morning. But I definitely wash my face way less and I can tell. Weird how that works.

Also, my tub of up&up stuff has lasted FOREVER. It's a thick cream. It doesn't have SPF - maybe you want to try one of cetaphil's other SPF items.

We must have completely different skin types. I have to wash my face or I break out. I make sure to use face wash with salicylic acid in it. Not only for breakout prevention, but because it makes my skin look brighter.

My skin is pretty dry. I have only used stuff with salicylic acid a few times and my face reacted just like it did with the aveeno stuff. I just think it is too harsh for me and when I use some of this stuff my face is covered in red bumps and I feel like I am sunburnt.

I use Up&Up daily SPF face lotion for regular skin (their Olay daily lotion knock-off). Love it, and its only $5.

I swear by this: http://www.cleanandclear.com/product/moisturizers/dual-action-moisturizer. If I don't use it for a day, I start feeling dry and icky in patches, and get pimples in other places. I don't wash my face either, just rinse it in the shower.
