Zach loves The Pixies and so we have been debating having our first dance at the wedding be to one of their songs. The one we like the best is La La Love You

I think this is awesome, however, I am not completely deaf to all the lyrics. Ha!

Also, we have a video screen that we can show something on during the reception. I really don't want to go to the effort of putting together a slide show so we are debating just showing Casablanca with the sound off. Does it say something that we want to show a movie where Bogart doesn't get the girl at the end? Hmm...

I like The Pixies a lot and I /love/ the idea of a non-traditional first dance song (one of the coolest thing I saw was this one wedding where they had Clapton's "Rock 'N' Roll Heart"), but can you really dance to any Pixies song? At least any kind of dance where you're, you know, near each other? (;

Some kinda montage on a video screen would be cool. Have like wedding scenes from shows or movies you both like.

Well... I think La La Love you is one of the only ones you can actually dance to like that. I think it will okay like that.

I was thinking about romantic sceens from movies. Epic kisses and movies. We were joking about Rocky Horror Picture Show on Monday. It has a wedding!

I have a one person wedding party and I love my sister but it won't get done if I ask her to do it. Plus I don't really care about picture of myself being up there.

i made one for my brother and his wife, they had a 0-person wedding party (though i also enjoy that sentimental stuff and making people cry)

I really wanted to do a slideshow of the cats. Zach thought people would think that was too weird.

The Pixies are awesome! I consider it a major life accomplishment that I finally got Paloma into them. ;)

You could just give a couple DVDs full of pictures to a friend and have them put it together for you. Or...setup an e-mail account and have people e-mail their favorite picture of you and/or Zach to it and make the montage in the order in which they arrived. :)

the last wedding i went to, they saved some money by letting people man an iPod. someone thought pearl jam's 'better man' would be an appropriate wedding song. i think 'casablanca' on mute is fine.

Video taping is too much work. It isn't even the cost really, it is mostly the fact that I don't want to think about. Plus I am pretty sure I am going to have amazing pictures so that will be good enough for me. :P

We used The Replacement's "I Will Dare" as one of wedding songs, so I'm totally all over using their equally excellent contemporaries' work as a first dance song.

I double dog dare you to use "I've Been Tired," just because the lyrics are harrowing. Not an especially danceable song.

However, one that is danceable and kind of has an actual sweetish message is "Letter To Memphis." As opposed to a Swedish Message. or a Swedish Massage.

We gave the parents the task of pulling various photos, scanning them, and putting together a slide show. Chris and I had veto power over a few, but it's turned out pretty ok. We totally have pictures of our cat in there because our cat is fabulous.

Love the idea of a non-traditional first dance song, I think the Pixies would be great!
