I don't know if I have posted this or not but I really like my itouch. I use it to read the Internet all the time and I even can read my kindle books on it and it will sync where I am in the book with my actual kindle. I guess there are games but I don't play them.

I am really debating not getting a smart phone when I get a new phone since I am so rarely out of wireless range. I find it fun to see if a place has a signal.

I still have my non-smart phone and it works great for me. There are times when I wish I had a smart phone, but like you, I'm in wireless range a lot of the time.

As for games, check out Fruit Ninja! I dig it!

There are a few times I wish it was a smart phone but mostly it is okay. Plus it really is a game to see if there is an open wireless place so I can "check in".

I forgot about Fruit Ninja, my sister has that on the ipad.

my contract is up in october, and i'm really thinking about following your lead! i want an iphone, but itouch would def be a more budget-friendly choice over the long run.

I took my lead from [livejournal.com profile] styletax. LOL. However, I don't mind paying for the hardware, it is the dataplan that gets me.

The data plan is $$$ if you are on a solo plan, but can be pretty cheap if you are on a family plan.

I am on the family plan and it is $25 a month. That is a lot!

Does your LJ app actually work on your iTouch? Which app are you using? I'm using the one that LJ actually put out themselves, and it SUUUUUCKS. I'm guessing it might be the fact that I'm running an old OS on my hacked T-Mobile iPhone, but reviews suggest it might be the app, too.

Also, the reason I went smartphone instead of iTouch + phone is largely due to not wanting to carry several devices around. Why not just have one that does it all? It even alleviates the need for a digital camera, for the most part.

Commenting sucks but other than that it works. I mostly read on it and then comment on my computer, I am usually only a couple steps away from a computer.

A phone + a touch isn't much more to carry and this way I get a phone that works well with a decent price cell package and no data package. The only real disadvantage is that I don't have turn by turn directions in my touch.
