I have confirmation that gwangi and I have both tickets and a hotel room for Convergence this year. I am excited to spend my 4th of July weekend showing Zach the joys of CON since it is his first time. YAY!!
Fair warning, Patrick is not really a congoer. Like Zach, he isn't really into fandom - he and I geek out on certain shows, but not to where he really wants to go to panels on them. He isn't interested in anime either, or parties, though maybe I could get him into some gaming ;) He bought a badge for this year but only to make it easier to help me with JIS. Also, with so many kids, he'll likely be at home with them a lot of the time.
If there's any panels you think Zach would like, though, I'm sure we can arrange for Patrick to be there too to lend non-nerdy support ;)
OTOH, this year I was thinking of bringing Patrick and Isaac to some of the Quantum Sandbox events. I bet Zach would like those since he's a sciencey type ;) You might even see if there's anything cool he can think of that he could lead. There's plenty of time to still propose stuff. He'd probably have some good ideas for hands-on science activities that people could get involved in.
That is what I meant about the nerdy stuff, I am not sure how much Zach will like about CON but he is willing to try it one year (the offer of a hotel room and a tipsy me was a big draw too, LOL).
I bet he would like to hang out with Patrick and Issac at the Quantum Sandbox events, he loves that sort of thing.
I have been telling him that he should run a panel. My suggestion was "Disease vectors at a convention" or "Zombie outbreaks, how possible is an epidemic?"
