Lately I have been using Grooveshark instead of pandora at work because one of my friends,
jayp39 helps write it, and I have to recommend it. It doesn't have so many javascript errors and the interface is much nicer. They also don't have any audio ads, which is nice. If they would just have a channel that halfway between "Rock" and "Indie" I would very happy.*

Date: 2011-01-19 07:02 pm (UTC)Radio is probably our crappiest feature. I wrote it in a day and it just uses hand curated recommendations. We've never had the time to dedicate to building something that's truly smart, so it's a miracle anyone wants to listen to it at all. ;)
I don't think there's a station that is like what you're looking for, but if you add songs by artists you like to your queue and turn radio on, you might get lucky if we have good recs for those artists. We're also adding some functionality to the front end that will allow you to "tune" a station to be more to your liking, but I'm not sure exactly when that will happen.
P.S. Job offer still stands if you guys ever feel like moving down to FL ;)

Date: 2011-01-19 07:23 pm (UTC)Oh! Thank you for the tip about turning the Radio on. I don't know why I didn't know you could do that. That is what I wanted it to do. Much better.
I do really like the UI, it is really clean.
I'll keep that in mind. ;)
