Lately I have been using Grooveshark instead of pandora at work because one of my friends, [livejournal.com profile] jayp39 helps write it, and I have to recommend it. It doesn't have so many javascript errors and the interface is much nicer. They also don't have any audio ads, which is nice. If they would just have a channel that halfway between "Rock" and "Indie" I would very happy.*

*They might have one but I am usually too lazy to figure this stuff out

Aw, thanks Bertine!
Radio is probably our crappiest feature. I wrote it in a day and it just uses hand curated recommendations. We've never had the time to dedicate to building something that's truly smart, so it's a miracle anyone wants to listen to it at all. ;)

I don't think there's a station that is like what you're looking for, but if you add songs by artists you like to your queue and turn radio on, you might get lucky if we have good recs for those artists. We're also adding some functionality to the front end that will allow you to "tune" a station to be more to your liking, but I'm not sure exactly when that will happen.

P.S. Job offer still stands if you guys ever feel like moving down to FL ;)

I was wondering about the radio feature, I didn't want to insult it but "Indie" is too whiney for me and "Rock" is too old for me. Today I have been listening to "Popular" which is making me laugh.

Oh! Thank you for the tip about turning the Radio on. I don't know why I didn't know you could do that. That is what I wanted it to do. Much better.

I do really like the UI, it is really clean.

I'll keep that in mind. ;)

I've been using Subsonic on my phone, since it streams all the music I have on my media center. It can stream to your phone or over the web. I like it cause I'm not really into exploring though.

Yeah, I just want something that plays music and doesn't make me work at it. I am not sure if grooveshark has a mobile app thing. I like grooveshark because I can bug a programmer. Ha!

We have an app for jailbroken iPhones and normal Android, Blackberry, Nokia and WebOS devices.
And if you tell me your username (guess: bertine?) I can hook you up with a free upgrade so you can use them without paying. ;)

LOL, what is funny is that I don't even have a smart phone! It is all academic to me. I might take you up on it when I get a smart phone in a year.
