Stephan King
Oct. 27th, 2008 08:42 pmI would make this a lj poll except I am sure it would leave out a book. What I want to know is what is your favorite Stephan King story and why. It can be anything he has done.
PS I change my mind, The Shawshank Redemption doesn't count. Everyone loves that one.

Date: 2008-10-28 02:00 am (UTC)Well, I love the movie as well. They're very different. Kubrick always gets the novelist into the screenplay credits, but he subverts the movie to his vision/theme.
Jack Torrence in the book is a better character than in the movie. He's a decent fellow, yet a flawed alcoholic writer, who gets manipulated by the hotel. In the movie, he's a dick right from the start.
There was a decent mini-series based on the book, with the one brother from Wings, and Rebecca DeMornay. It was good, but forgettable.

Christine, The Green Mile and Misery were probably the best movie adaptations. The Shining...yeah it was good. But Kathy Bates rocked in Misery.
Thinner was my favorite of the Richard Bachman books. And The Dark Half was a nice play on that whole Bachman back story.
Too many to choose just one.
