Dad Update
Oct. 15th, 2010 07:50 amWednesday was my dad's last chemo and his last radiation appointment. Everything is going as expected, the doctor's believe the tumor was killed by the radiation but they can't confirm it for a couple months because it takes that long for the dead cells to be absorbed by his body.
The last week of his radiation they were giving him less and less radiation and my dad's ability to taste things was coming back. He ate half a brownie on Tuesday, which was awesome. I am really hoping that in a week he will actually want to eat meals next week (supplemented by his feeding tube, of course).
The doctors and nurses called him a "superstar" because he didn't need to take a break in the treatment. His skin never got bad and he never really went on pain killers. He took a few to help him sleep but he stayed off of them for the most part.
( here is a picture of my family at my mom's 60th birthday party )
It is really good to be at the end of this phase of this. The plan is that he won't be going back to work until January or so because he is pretty weak right now.
