Unfortunately three things are so wrong with this movie:
1) the acting is terrible (see "acting for dummies chapter three: how to die on-screen)
2) their half hearted attempt not to stereo-type the muslims(arabs)didn't really work
3) It's really slow to get to the point..
but the cinematography is Ok and some parts of the movie are quite comical...

Yes it is loosely based on the crusades...although the "mapping" part is a bit inaccurate, listen close when they try to tell someone to get to jerusalem and think hard about your geography and think if they actually ever made it to where they were supposed to go.

Yep they seem to turn their backs on the great sword battles of the 1100's and spend time and money shooting films like the house of wax with paris hilton

I saw it!

I thought it was a pretty good movie. I mean the only holes I thought were present was how quickly the chick fell in love and banged Orlando, and how quickly the father and son bonded. There are great underlying tones of fate and faith and leaving your life to your faith in God, I really wasn't interested on whether or not the movie was historically correct.

I wouldn't say this movie is super duper, but I did like it a lot more than I liked Troy, which wasn't all that great, and I never even bothered to see that Alexander the Great movie.
