Smart phone

I finally got a smart phone. It is pretty slick to have GPS & all my contacts synced with google. Otherwise it is a lot like my touch since I got an iPhone. Oh, the camera on this thing is pretty awesome.

Zach also got a smart phone but it is a droid.

In completely unrelated news, we are having a garage sale today. It was going really well until the rain came. Now it is just cold and wet.

Which droid? For some reason Verizon likes to call all their Android phones "Droid"...

The Razr. It's on sale now for $100, mostly because they came out with a Razr Maxx, which has the exact same stats except for double battery life. It's a pretty nice phone.

The razr is decent hardware and yeah, I've heard people getting free extended batteries for them which essentially turn them into a razr maxx. And with LTE you want that extra battery life so keep an eye out for Special Offers.

I have a problem with Motorola phones personally. They keep locking the bootloader. I believe that if I buy a device I should be allowed to do whatever I want with it like remove bloatware and install my own operating system because Motorola never bothers to upgrade to the latest releases. But I know most people don't care about stuff like that.

Yeah, I was surprised at the amount of unremovable bloatware. I knew it'd be on there, since things like "Verizon Video" are always on devices you buy from big retailers (my parents buy computers from Best Buy, and those come so loaded with it!), but I figured I'd be able to uninstall everything and make it the way I wanted. Instead, all I can do is hide the apps so they don't appear in my list. It's pretty stupid.

That's one of the main reasons I tend to get Nexus devices. I head Verizon put SOME bloatware on the Galaxy Nexus but it was removable. Even if it's not, the Nexus devices are always super-easy to unlock, root and modify.

Although apparently there is a root method out there for the razr, whcih would let you delete whatever the hell you want.
