This house is so cool.

I am not even sure why I am looking at houses. It is going to be years before we move.

we saw a lot of houses that looked awesome in photos, but felt completely different when we actually visited.

i love the windows, kitchen and porch on this house, though!

Yeah, I am sure they do.

I would love to be that close to the river. However, it is really close to 94

yeah, i'm not sure that's the area along the river i'd want to live on... i think there'd be too much people traffic, and not necessarily of the lake calhoun "nice" variety. though i'm there with the idea of living on/near water.

Holy crap that's a gorgeous house! I find myself dreaming of either a three-bedroom Victorian condo in Loring Park, a loft in the warehouse district, or a little craftsman bungalow in south Minneapolis lately. Which is kind of ridiculous, because we obviously are not going to buy something when I'm trying to get in to grad school and James is going to be laid off in a year, and even when I'm done I'll have a gajillion dollars in student loan debt to pay off. But it's fun to dream!

I want a 3 or 4 bedroom Victorian. Basically a house that looks like this one. However, this one is so close ot 94, has a train running behind it and doesn't have a garage.

Which is good because I still have my condo to sell (and finish), Zach is going to school soon and hopefully next year I'll be taking a couple months off to have a baby.

It is fun to dream.

It doesn't feel so bad to put stuff like that off when it's for things you want to do, like go to school or have a baby!

I am not sure about that. I want a yard so much. I also want to be further from my neighbors. I am not sure how my neighbors are going to handle it when we have a baby.

Oh, man, your crazy neighbor is going to be - well, crazy.

Exactly. Though one of the condos is for sale so maybe we will get a less crazy person.

That is really cool but when I got to the picture of the kitchen, I was like "Oh my god what is going on in there?"

That attic would make an awesome bedroom.

The kitchen is a nice size. I think the rest of it is just the design choices they made. Painting would be easy. I think I would also change out the tile. The rest I would live with.

I am not sure how I feel about their not being any pictures of the bathrooms. Ha!

The size is nice but yeah, it would need to be painted or something.

When we were looking to move (which never happened thanks to my job), if there were no pictures of the bathrooms, I took that as a sign that the bathroom was awful/tiny/falling apart/ugly/etc.

That is what I figured. However, I don't mind doing work if there isn't a ton of it. Bathrooms aren't that hard to redo.

wow, nice.

Why can't you think about houses? this is a good market for buyers...

I know! I love houses like that and I would love to live that close to the river!

I would have to sell my condo (back market for selling condo) and Zach is going back to school soon so we will be a single income family for a while. The condo is very afforable on just my income.

Oh wow. That's a great location, and a gorgeous property. I don't even want to think about how cheap it is.

From: [identity profile] bertine.livejournal.com
Well... it is cheap because it is right next to 94 and has a railroad in the backyard. Plus no garage.

Still... it is so cheap it would be worth dealing with some of those things.

i surprised you think it's cheap, considering what the property is missing (garage, cooling, possible privacy) and the work you may want to invest in it (potential scary bathrooms, kitchen work, and finishing the basement).

i guess it depends on the priorities one has for their home, but jason and i saw properties in minneapolis that were much, much cheaper and contained more of the home requirements we defined for ourselves.

Love the house. Fireplace is a plus. No cooling is an issue in a house that size. In our 3 bedroom we need three window A/Cs to cool the place. But it's got a great location!
