1. Today we have a cake tasting. We also have one on Sunday. Yes, it is early but I felt like it and my dad was excited. Plus it was something easy to cross off the list (unlike dress shopping). I have decided this is the way to planning a wedding, making the decisions on all the things I really don't care about early and all the other things I'll deal with when I really need to deal with them.

2. I picked out wedding invitations. Again, I know this is early but I need to send out save the date post cards in June or July and the only bad feedback on the seller on Esty was "she is slow" so I figured I would order with plenty of time. I am going to order the save the date cards soon and then order the invitations in July when we figure what food we are serving.

3. I was thinking about making my own invitations but then I realized that I could do freelance web stuff and make money to pay for invitations and not drive everyone around me crazy. I think this will be a much better solution. Plus, I don't really care if they are fancy invitations. All they need to do is tell you "Here is where the party is, here is a handy map and hotel information, tell us if you are coming and what you want to eat". The Save the date cards are just because we are getting married on Boxing Day. Which reminds me, I have been meaning to make a save the date facebook event.

4. I am trying to decide if I care enough to put a picture of us in the save the date postcard. Thoughts?

Your mindset on all of this is probably good!

And pictures are fun if you like fun pictures. That's...not really helpful, I suppose, but true. We, for example, are NOT picture people so doing a pic for some aspect of inviting would have been a burden, not fun. But if you guys LIKE pics, then it could be really fun to incorporate one!

I am all about easy, hence cake instead of pie. I looked into serving pie and decided that I didn't care enough to do that. (also, I didn't want to pay for it, I can buy a pie and eat it any time for myself).

The only pictures we do are of our cats. I doubt most people would enjoy a picture of Xerxes, we get enough grief from our family about him having a facebook page as it is.

Are you worried that some of the guests won't know who you are without one? :)

J/k, but I don't think it's an expectation if you don't want to. I know that only some of the save the date cards I've gotten has had a picture of the couple. I think for some people it's a nice excuse to go get engagement photos done, but I don't know if that's you and Zach's thing.

I don't know. I just want the easiest route possible and that would be without a photo. Then I was trying to think if save the dates usually had photos. I personally don't want engagement photos, it seems like a huge hassle.

I'm curious about the cake tasting. Isn't it more about what the cake looks like? I mean it's cake, it's gonna taste good (unless its like, carrot cake, ewww). Shouldn't it be a cake viewing or Cake Architecture?

I don't care about a fancy cake, I am looking for dessert for the wedding. The next tasting, one Sunday will be better, they will have more photos and stuff.

Oooh, just get a big vat of icecream!

Man, my wedding's going to be super boring if we enforce all the dietary restrictions. "And now the Wedding Tofu Slab!"

Yeah, tell me about it.

Seriously, I don't even like things made with flour, I usually skip cake, bread and pasta so it is funny that I am thinking about cake (though I like pretty cakes).

Well, it's your wedding, you guys can do a vat of Jell-O if you want.

Or something reasonable, like a chocolate statue of you guys.

I think a chocolate statue of our cats would be even better!

A) I dunno, it's not the cats getting married.
B) Life-size chocolate statue of you guys HOLDING the cats.

Do it. DO IT!!!

If you're tasting it now that cake is going to be so stale by the time you guys have your wedding.
. . . I'm helpful.
