Last Night I made a small batch of cardamom ice cream. It turned out pretty well, though I should have put a little less cardamom in it and strained the spice out of it. Tomorrow Zach and I are having a bunch of people over to watch Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter and I am thinking about making some more ice cream to serve since there is no way I am baking anything. I am trying to decide what sort of ice cream or sorbet I should make and decided to make a poll:

[Poll #1569527]

The cardamom ice cream is a custard based ice cream so it is pretty creamy. The dulce de leche one has pecans in it. The blueberry sorbet is the hardest to make and even if it gets the most votes I might not make because it is hot out and I might not feel like cooking a simple syrup.

a simple syrup could be microwaved

But, if it's going to be a vampire-hunter theme, I think you've got to get some garlic in there.

are you joking? I thought you were joking. It's just boiled water with some dissolved sugar, just like making tea or something.

May I suggest blueberry sorbet with fresh mint in the mix? Perfect in this heat!

I just didn't think about it, I don't use the microwave for a lot of things. I usually just make a huge batch of simple syrup and leave it in the fridge. This makes things so much easier.

It is like the day I learned I could microwave marshmellows. My life got so much easier.

I can't choose between cardamom ice cream and blueberry sorbet - they both sound so good! If my life wasn't still revolving around car related stuff (have to go and get a duplicate lien release from my bank for the wrecked car this evening), I'd offer to make one in my ice cream maker and bring it.

Bad [livejournal.com profile] eatsoylentgreen You never, ever microwave bacon.

Sir, you have just implied that one can microwave tea.

Unless you explicitly retract that statement, I'm afraid I'm going to have to challenge you to a duel.

And tea-microwavers do NOT get to choose the weapon.

hahaha looks like we're getting all the food nerds out on this post!

ok but you could boil the water and then insert the leaves into the microwaved boiled water, could you not?

I need all the bacon points I can get!

Absolutely not!

For one, you don't use boiling water for tea. And you don't "insert" the leaves! I don't even know where to START telling you what's wrong with that!

I have no opinion about your ice cream flavors, but have you seen Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter before? I hope that you are aware that you will need to have copious amounts of alcohol on hand for this event. The movie is simultaneously awesome and completely horrible.

I have not seen it before but Zach has. However, the people that are coming to see it are the right mix of people to make it funny with a low level of alcohol.
