You know what is hard? Getting out of bed when you are surrounded by cats and your boyfriend.

Anyways, I am thinking about buying a new car (again). Seriously, the hardest thing is picking which car I like. I was thinking about either the Jetta or the Mazda 3 but I don't know. SIGH.

I like Mazdas, they are cute.

I used my Hourcar membership for the first time yesterday so I got to drive a Prius. They are very quiet.

New car shopping. Always a headache (at least to me...Maybe that's why I've only had three different cars). What appeals to you about the Jetta and the Mazda 3? I can see you in a convertible. Not sure why, I just see you in one.

The jetta just seems like a car that would last forever and the mazda 3 just seems like fun. They are about the same price (though I am not sure the mazda 3 has a sunroof which is the one thing I really want in a car).

I wouldn't mind a convertible but I am too practical to actually get one. I would worry way too much for it. However, I am getting a sunroof.

They are cute! I just don't know how long they will last. I want 10 years out of my next car!

I would get a hybrid except I want to be able to fix some of it myself and that just seems too complicated.

It occurred to me yesterday that it seemed like a lot of things were electronic and potentially expensive to repair.

Are the Jetta and Mazda 3 pretty even on gas mileage and other features? I haven't shopped for a vehicle since 1997 so I have no idea what features cars even have now days. LOL! Plus I am more of a truck guy.

I'd probably go for the Jetta, but Mazda has some pretty amazing deals on right now.

Having said that, VW's are expensive to repair (parts are pricey), so if you're looking for 10 years, you might want to consider vehicle less expensive for long-term repairs.

Trucks are too big for me. I want a 4 door sedan.

They have pretty similar mileage. I have been also thinking about a honda but my brain is going to explode soon.

My friends who own Hondas saythey run forever. Their manuals get much better MPG than their automatics.

I like VWs and have owned several. They break. A lot. And can be costly to repair.

Consumer Reports loves the Mazda 3.

That is really good to know because I want a good reliable car.

I just watched their video on the Mazda 3. Now I want to actually drive one. Hmm...

Well yesterday was my first time using the it. I was pleased that the car was available, because I did not make my reservation until really late Saturday night. Priuses are really different from anything I've driven in the past because they have power buttons instead of ignitions. That was odd. I pressed the button and did not hear a "start" sound and was not sure if it was actually on. I had to check the manual to make sure I was doing it right.

Ha! I couldn't get into bed last night because the cats and the boyfriend had taken it over.

My co-worker has a Mazda 3. Its super cute and very comfortable. VWs are fun cars, but expensive to fix. And everyone I've known with a VW have had problems.

If you want a good reliable car, look at Hondas. Seriously. I drove a Civic for 7 years with no problems ever. My friend has a 1998 Civic with 330,000 miles on it and is just now looking for a new car.

I have debated getting a honda but I find them a little boring but it would be on the list of ones to try and test drive.

I had a 2-door Civic coupe, 5-speed. It was a ton of fun to drive. I don't disagree that the Civic sedans are pretty boring. The Accords are nice though.

Hey! I just bought Consumer Reports' new car shopping package (3 months of access). Call me for the password!

I was looking at dumping my Jeep for the Cash For Clunkers program but I can't really afford a new car with my current job. And once I leave my current job and just commute, who cares if I have a crappy car. And if I work downtown, I *could* join the carless! (doubtful)

I was looking at the cheap cars that Consumer Reports recommended: Honda Fit, Toyota Matrix (Pontiac Vibe clone) and the Mazda 3 for a little more money. The Matrix/Vibe is built on the Corolla's design (chassis/drivetrain?), so very reliable. I parked next to one and it's very similar in size to my Jeep (height, wheelbase).

oh!!! you are awesome. I'll give you a call after work. I was thinking about getting it yesterday. :D

My car really needs to be replaced. I didn't really notice how bad it was but it doesn't always start, you can't use the back windows and things are just wearing out on it. :\

Those are all ones I was looking at. Since I know that I will keep this car for 10 years I am willing to spend a little more, hence the mazda 3.
