I bought a new water bottle this weekend (a camelbak one with a bite value because I sort of love sippy cups) and the value thing is defective. Now I have to go back to REI and not buy anything else.

Well you don't HAVE to not buy anything else.

You could always just replace it with a regular (non-sippy-cup) one. I don't know how your Boundary Waters hike will be, but ours will feature plenty of rest breaks, so you won't need to worry about the sippy cup features.

I like the sippy cup feature because of the gym, when I drink out of my regular bottle I get water all over me. :(

I actually really like the bottle, I am going to go get it replaced because it really does look like a defect. Eric has the same bottle and it lasted him a year.

That's going to be so difficult! REI is such a fun store.
