Eyebrows

Sometimes I feel weird because I am not very "girly". I rarely shave my legs, I don't wear makeup and I don't worry about coordinating. However, one thing that I have noticed that even non-girly girls do is manage their eyebrows.

[Poll #1395281]

BTW, I haven't done anything to manage my eyebrows since I got them waxed once ten years ago.

I don't care for the way my brows look totally untended - kind of flat and bushy. I like the way a shaped brow looks on my face, it makes me feel more put together (I also rarely wear makeup). When things get out of hand, I go and get them waxed at the salon, otherwise I do upkeep with a pair of awesome tweezers.

I think the reason I don't do anything is that I am so very fair so you just don't really see them. Plus they are pretty well behaved.

although I have to admit, even though I'm not a plucker/tweezer/whatever-er, I am starting to get the wild "old man" eyebrows, and whenever I have a huge hair sticking up, or out, it gets shortened.

I don't think I've ever done one single thing to my brows. Hm.

Eyebrow shaping is one of those things I just totally don't get at all.

The only brow "management" I do is the occasional plucking of the few stray hairs that betray my part-German heritage. They want to be a monobrow, but there just aren't enough of them to make it happen - so I give 'em a mercy killing every couple weeks or so.

I have the same issue - I could live without shaping the actual brows if I had to, but the German monobrow has to go.

I don't manage them. The only time I did was when my stylist gave me a free wax for my graduation. Sure it looked nice, but I don't have the Groucho Marx going on, so I don't seek it out.

I get them done every 3 weeks or so at the pedicure place. :) I know, it sounds so decadent, but I have dark eyebrows and they are thick. I used to just pluck strays in-between, but now I just spend $8 to get them done when I get my toes done. :)

In the winter, I'll still pop in and get them done. It takes 10 minutes and it really makes the face look so much cleaner.

$8!!! Where? Do tell!

(obviously, by that comment, it is clear that I manage my hairy black brows)

That's the average rate at the mani/pedi places here in Roswell (a northern suburb of Atlanta). You know the type, they're next to your grocery stores, usually staffed with women who speak very little English but will do a killer job on your nails and eyebrows. Pop in, say you need your eyebrows waxed. 10 minutes later, you are done. Tip $2-3 bucks on top.

Geez. Here in MN, the standard is around $20. This is why I tweeze instead of pay to get them waxed.

Even at the cheapie mani/pedi places (versus the spas)? WOW!

I get them done for $10 at my mani/pedi place at the Hub in Richfiled, MN.
I try to keep them at bay - but it is just easier to go in every few weeks and get them done... I'm overdue. Thanks for reminding me!

I don't really look all that often, because even $8-12 is too expensive for my blood. I dropped $20 on a really nice tweezer about six years ago and it has served me well.

I do trim mine or they get very silly.

I answer Yes with an asterisk ...

Every few months a stay hair will be really long and annoy me or a stray hair will pop out nowhere near the rest of my eyebrow hair (I firmly believe it is another one that lost its way from the top of my head). Those I pluck with extreme prejudice. But I do not do any type of regular maintenance.

Part of my heritage is eastern European so I have to pluck the occasional oversized hair.

I am not "girly" but I've been getting my eyebrows waxed since college. I have a Burt & Ernie unibrow thing if I don't. It really changes how you look.

Your eyebrows are so light, I've never even noticed them. Ha!

I just pluck the things that are wildly out of place. I don't go crazy with shaping or anything.

I have Susan Boyle-esque scary thick brows. They need a whole team of beauty professionals to keep them in line.

I don't shape mine or anything, 'cuz I like how they look. But I use a eyebrow clippers to keep them nice and neat, probably about once every other week or so.

My mom is a hairdresser, and sometimes she holds me down and waxes my non-existent unibrow. My eyebrows are blonde for chrissakes! Why must she remove what little I have?

Other than that, I don't even touch em.

i actually grow hair from the TIP of my nose. no joke. my last girlfriend used to 'tweeze' them with her teeth whenever she found one sprouting up. it was very endearing and an extremely intimate experience, now i most go vomit.<3

I don't shape mine too much, but I do pluck them when I notice they're getting out of control which is usually after they've been out of control for a while...

I have giant bushy eyebrows like Bert. Every 5 weeks I get them waxed by a little sadistic Vietnamese lady. She's awesome.

I'm too cheap to pay for them to be waxed, so I tweeze my own. Usually about once a month or so...or whenever I notice them getting out of hand. :P

Mine actually grow down on my eyelids, so that's pretty annoying/ugly if I don't wax. Also: German monobrow. Bad.

I don't do anything with them but my barber occasionally trims them if they are getting long.
