Hoopty is fine, he is just bitchy and decided that the check engine light was a good way to make me pay an extra $40. Now I have to go get my car by 5:30, which I doubt is going to happen. I wonder if I got up early tomorrow how long it would take to take a bus to the car shop?

Also, I am having a very orange lunch since I am eating a sweet potato and carrots.

I had a feeling it was my gas cap but it didn't go away after a couple weeks and I just had a bunch of work done on it (o2 sensor) so I thought maybe something was wrong with that. At least it was an excuse not to have to change my own oil, which I try to do when it isn't cold out.

My car^* was doing that too, but I actually had a bad solenoid. I'm going to go get it at 4pm, the mechanic is like a block away.

Yup. The advantage of reading codes yourself: Errors reported by the computer as a bad sensor can often be a loose, corroded or disconnected wire. Clean it, plug it back in and you're good to go (and not $50-100 poorer for having a mechanic do it).

Cars are something I never really got into. But I've always kinda wanted one of those code scanners, or at least something I can plug into the car's computer to get STATISTICS from.

A lot of auto part stores will run a scan for you for free, too. My thing is I wouldn't know a solenoid if it bit me.
