I think I am going to bike to the Y tonight. My poor bike is so lonely in the basement. :(

I really want a single gear bike. I wonder if I could find one and try to fix it up myself. It might be a good spring obsession.

Is it weird that I want to take a bath before I go to the gym? I am not going to but I really want to.

Yes, we converted my Surly Cross-Check from geared over to single/fixed. I have no idea how much we spent on parts, but Chris built me a new rear wheel with a flip-flop hub on it so I can switch from single speed to fixed gear easily. Otherwise, it was just a matter of stripping off the shifters, derailleur, and associated cables. I still have the front derailleur and chainrings on, we didn't get around to taking them off or didn't have the right tools. That wheel was the hardest part, since he had to build it. You can pay a shop to do that for you, or sometimes you can find one used or new.

There are probably lots of resources out there on the internet and probably some on Mpls Bike Love too.
