Brunch

Ok, I want to go to brunch on Saturday. If you are interested meet me at Sunnyside Up Cafe (2704 Lyndale Ave S, Minneapolis, MN 55408) at 11:30.

Also, I am thinking about what I want to do for my brithday. I am thinking about having brunch at my condo. I just have to decide if I could handle cooking that much. :)


Also, it has been a week since I saw Mama Mia and I still have Abba songs in my head.

I might take you up on that since I am not that great of a cook. I can bake since that is all about following the recipe but cooking seems more of an art than a science.

See... I think that is why I can bake. When I was in high school I worked in a bakery and while I wasn't a baker I would help out a lot and I sort of learned what dough should look like at different points.

Ok, I think I will do this then. Cause I want to make all my friends walk up a lot of steps! Ha!

If you don't have them, I would recommend copies of Alton Brown's "I'm Just Here For The Food" (general cooking) and "I'm Just Here For More Food" (baking) books. They're great guides for learning how to cook and bake, and not just following recipes. Some of his things are a little overboard, I think, but overall, they've been great resources for me. I can loan you my copies, if you'd like.

My parents have the first one. It is more that I don't really enjoy cooking for myself and I get *how* to cook, just not how to make things taste good. I suck as seasoning.

Yeah, I am thinking that would be a good idea, where I make the main dish and everyone brings some sort of side. Cause you know I love brunch.

I like Sunnyside up. I love crunch french toast, or whatever it is. Alas! We are chained to home base this weekend, because the boy is on-call. (This is also to say that I will only be picking up Indian food to bring home to him, and will not be sitting down there until next Friday.)

You're birthday brunch sounds intriging! I love brunch! I think I'm going to buy a waffle iron this weekend, or at least, soon!
