Confession

I have a confession to make. I can't listen to music and surf the internet at the same time. I can't listen to music and read at the same time. I can't listen to music and code at the same time unless the coding is really boring.

I can listen to music and go through my clothes at the same time. I also can drive and have music playing. However I think that is because I forget that about the music.

In the age of ipods I feel a little weird about this confession.

I can only read to certain types of music and it can't have lyrics.

I get so involved in what I am reading that I wouldn't even notice if there was music playing.

I get the most done when I've got the TV going with iTunes whilst stumbling. ;) Guess I'm a multi-tasker.

Can you actually pay attention to it or is it just back ground noise?

I don't think I am a good multi-tasker. I think I am just really fast at switching between tasks.

I actually absorb it all, which is strange, cause out at a bar - I can never differentiate between the different noisy conversations.

I can listen to a bunch of conversations at once and know what is going on in them. I can also listen to something like MPR and remember it later if I am doing any of those task. Just not music.

I am much the same way. I can't read while talk radio is on, the words block each other.

How about instrumental music? I find I can concentrate better on the other task if no one is singing at me.
