Date: 2006-12-15 06:47 pm (UTC)Learn an ancient craft, and build a forge of your own to take home! In this introductory course, we will begin by learning the metal fabrication and welding techniques needed to build your own propane forge. Building a forge will provide you with an intimate understanding of the equipment and how to safely operate and maintain it, inspiring the confidence to use it on your own. Next, we will practice basic methods of manipulating metal with a hammer, anvil and heat by creating small ornamental projects in our forges. You will need to purchase your own regulator and smithing hammer (approximately $25) after the first class session; all other supplies are included. Protective eyewear is a must, along with head covering, long sleeves and long pants. Loose-fitting welding gloves are optional. Enrollment is very limited for this unique class - register early!
I don't might hard and frustrating, i wouldn't want to master it so much, as know how it is done.

Glass blowing or even lamp work seems like it would be totally fun to try. I understand the blowing thing is actually quite hard but it still seems neet.
