I was just thinking about the fact that I get two weeks of vacation come November. I really want to blow a week of it over New Years. I have a couple choices. Paris is cheap, Hong Kong and Spain are my current obsessions, and Greece/Turkey has been my obsession for years.

i did spend a month travelling through europe a few years ago. two weeks of that was by myself.

when i started travelling alot i didn't know many people that had enough money to travel as much as i wanted to. so i just went by myself.

that's pretty much why i've never taken a vacation with anyone but my parents. it also helps that i know people where i want to go, so i have free tour guides!

i do the stay with people you know thing alot. it is fun because you see stuff you wouldn't see normally. i rarely take a trip in the us unless i am going to meet someone.

where would you drive? because that's my goal really - to just take a long weekend and drive somewhere like that. i just have no clue where.

yeah, i would just drive. there is this awesome state park on the north shore that i would stay by then drive to the border the next day for the fun of it. i love the north shore so much!

Dammit, i would love for you to come with, it is one of my favorite places to go. I rode a good chunk of it one year and so I know the whole area rather well.

it's on my list of places to go, but i'm pretty much behind on that list! i would love to go in the fall, i think, because i've heard it's just amazing.

not really. that's what blows. i'm out of town this weekend and the last weekend in september. and then i'm already taking a long weekend in october, which is when we're not supposed to take any time off at all for work.

it's probably too late in november, huh?

also, i really want to go to south america but for some reason i feel like i shouldn't go there by myself, which is funny to me.

south america is more appealing to me than europe is, but i'm not sure why. truthfully, going to europe isn't something i even care to do.

well, i did study european history a lot so i think that is why i like going there.

i know a bunch of people that have been to south america and it sounds wonderful too but i want to go to asia a little bit more. then africa. SIGH, so many places to go!!

africa would be really awesome, i think. i'm sure if i did studying like that, things would become more interesting, too. i get all of my geographical and traveling interest off of things like watching Survivor.

i have wanted to go to north africa for a long time. i thought about joining the peace corps while in high school which is why i studied french for so long. however, it hasn't happened yet.

sand_in_my_soap was telling me all about south africa and now i really want to go there too.
