Breastfeeding
Sep. 30th, 2013 06:02 pmHenrietta took to breastfeeding like a champ. After my c-section as soon as we got into the recovery room she was out in my chest with skin-to-skin contact and she started sucking without any issues. She didn't even have issues latching at an hour old.
She didn't like it when my milk hadn't come in yet and spent the night screaming. Basically that was the worst night with her yet. Ever since she "cluster feeds" and then sleeps for hours. It is nice that she sleeps three to four hours at a time.
Her one issue is that I have an oversupply of milk and so she eats too much at each sitting. Then she spits up a lot of milk afterwards. However, she has gained a pound in the last week and a half so there isn't too much concern.
Breastfeeding is pretty weird. First, you show more boob that usual. While we were in the hospital I just went topless most of the time. She had to eat so much. Now I just whip them out when she needs them. Most of my friends and family have seen my boobs at this point and I don't really care. Second, it is weird to have milk come out of them. We are going to start pumping next week so she feels comfortable with different food delivery systems (boobs and bottles) so going back to work is easier. Plus it means Zach would be able to feed her at times, which I know he wants to do.
BTW, she doesn't like to take a pacifier from me. She will take it from Zach. She is a smart baby.
