new computer

OK, i know ctakahara asked something like this a couple weeks ago but i am going to be setting up my new computer this weekend after the painting is done in my office. i get some real internet on monday. it has been a long time since i have had a pc rather than a mac and i just want to review what software i need.

1. I need every browser cause this is what i do for a living.
2. AIM
3. Spybot and/or ad-aware (what do you guys use?)
4. AVG
5. Office Software, though I don't care what. I also need MS Access.
6. A firewall (what do you use jenni?)
7. All the google stuff I have come to love.


Everything else should come with the computer. What other stuff do I need? I can't wait to set it up and then get CIV4. I may never work again after that.

Porn. and lots of it.

You'll need a mp3/media player. And lots of codecs and plugins to be able to open everything.

I primarily use Linux at home, but my Windows partition has Spybot, Ad-Aware and AVG.

I just have the firewall that XPsp2 uses, but I use a Dlink router to connect, which keeps those NetBIOS and RPC requests out of my life.

use spybot AND ad-aware. in conjunction, they do a very comprehensive job.
