Mornings

How do you become a morning person?

PS, I need to start wearing my mouth guard every night.

Considering I have a child who wakes up at 6:30 AM for the last 8 years, I wish I was a morning person. :) I do a good impersonation of one.

The secret is going to bed at a really reasonable hour. Not midnight, but like 10:30 or 11. I suck at that, but that's the secret...

Totally agree with going to bed earlier. I start to wind down at 9:00 and try to be in bed by 10:00.

I do have the benefit of being able to fall asleep super fast and sleep really hard, but I think just giving yourself more time to chill and sleep makes getting up way easier.

I am a good sleeper, I just stay up late because Zach only needs 6.5 hours of sleep. So he stays up until midnight and is awake by 6:30. I stay up with him and drag myself out of bed at 8.

You don't.

I've been getting up at 5:30am for over a year now, and I still am miserable every single time.

I think a person can get used to getting up early, but you can't really make yourself be a "morning person".

I have no idea how to become a morning person, but if I figure it out, I'll let you know. I'm still working on ways to change the rest of the world to be more accepting to "sleep 'till 10 am" people.

There's a magic potion that will transform you, it's called caffeine.

Course it might not make you LIKE it. And it doesn't work on a lot of people.

I had a whole thing of energy drink today because 4 hours of sleep for the last few days because oncall. Then I ran 3 miles. And I'm still jittery as all hell. If Zach is playing ME3 ask him to show you a part with Mordin. That's how I'm talking right now.

On second thought screw Mordin, I'm totally in Abed-mode.

Making the most of it though, I'm mounting that TV on the wall because the center channel speaker I just got as part of a set of new speakers is too big to fit in front of it. By the way why do all stud finders suck so much?

did it for years, never liked it or got used to it.

Going to bed really early is a huge part of it. I can say that I reported to work at six for years and I never truly got used to it. I was constantly falling into naps after work, and probably was not performing at my best. I think you can do some adjustment of the natural rhythms, but there is only so far you can go.

Ritual works for me. Get up with the forst alarm, follow the same pattern every day, and by the time I get out the door, I'm a morning person.
