I work within a block of a sewing machine dealer. I can see it from one of my windows if I stand up (it is the window behind my monitors). Anyways, instead of buying a new laptop, I could buy myself a sewing macine of my own and stop using my mom's sewing machine.

Though, I could get a mid-range sewing machine and a mid-range laptop and have both. Hmm...

I say go mid-range on both. The sewing machine will last a long long time and will never become obsolete. The computer on the other hand is only good for a few years even if it's a top of the line model.

Mid-range both is good, saves having to pick one or the other and wonder if you picked the right one later.

Or you could buy the laptop and put the sewing machine you want on your gift registry.

I doubt anyone is going to buy me an $800-1000 sewing machine. LOL.

You never know...Or maybe a group of people can go in on it. Ask for the stars, it's your wedding. At worst you end up with a toaster oven.

Getting a new machine can make a difference. I really like my Babylock Crafters Choice. It would make a great machine for your quilting. :)
