I have Kindle lust again.

I really want one, too, but I try not to buy books (pro-library). If the library rented digital copies - then Kindle would be irresistible.

I am pro-library too but I have a hard time getting there as often as I would like. It would be nice to have the ability to just download a book when I want to read one.

I have been really interested in this! Not sure if it's a good fit for me with the kids, but man oh man does it ever look interesting!

Why wouldn't it be a good fit?

The reasons I don't have one yet is:
1) I didn't want the first generation one
2) I am cheap

E-readers are the one gadget I have absolutely NO desire to own. Even if someone gave me one for free, I'd just sell the thing.

The tech is just not there yet.

That's cheaper than the baby-rabies, I suppose. And I've had a bit of a case of both lately.

I know but it doesn't stop me from wanting one!

It is cheaper but Kindle tech is only going to get better. My baby producing tech is just going to go downhill.

LOL.

Are you saying you have a baby rabies?

There are a lot of free books or really cheap books! I need more books to read!

Oh yeah. It's terrible. There should be a cream for that or something. And Grenacia doesn't have it at all. It doesn't seem to be contagious. I think that just makes it worse.

That's the funny thing, it's stopping ME from wanting one. When have you ever known me to NOT want a gadget?

Good point. However, I just want something that means on Saturday night when I run out of books to read I can get a new one right then.

Zach wants them but he doesn't have it as bad as I do, plus there are good reasons not to right now.

So I try to contain my "Oh, think how a baby or child would be in this situation" remarks. I am pretty sure I fail.

It's amazing how accommodating you can make your condo when you have nine months to prepare. I think you should call Zach, take the rest of the day off, and spend the weekend "practicing". :)

I've solved THAT problem by ransacking Half-Price Books and having PILES of books in my To Read stack.

Well... the good reasons would be the fact that he is going into the army in July. However, "practicing" would be a good use of time. :P

I hate clutter and unread books are clutter in my mind.

That's all the more reason!! You can't let a man go off to war without a bun in the oven. Joining the military is like drawing a "get pregnant" card in Monopoly. It's like, a sacred patriotic duty or something. Just close your eyes and think of Uncle Sam.

Put them on shelves or in bags.

My Kindle-lust has currently been consumed by Apple Tablet-lust. Not that we even know if such a thing exists, but the rumors have struck me into a frenzy.

Ahh, Apple.

Apple has aspired to be the market leader in showing us the same thing that Amazon has only mimicked - DRM makes for a crappy product that people will (oddly) buy anyway, if your brand has enough name recognition. After 1984, it became very clear that a netbook with WiFi is a bazillion times better than Kindle.

I (at least) want a Sony reader.

And now, I have created a poll. Everyone should go click the clicky boxes. :)

i still don't see the point. just go to the library for free.

Date: 2010-01-22 08:40 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] bertine.livejournal.com
Because the library doesn't have a lot of the books I want to read.

At least the library has started to have hours I can make again. For a couple years it was awful. I would have to leave work early to get to the library.
