[livejournal.com profile] damncutekitty and I were going to go to Richard III today but it was too nice and sunny out to stay inside all day. So we went for a walk on Calhoun and Lake of the Isles. We saw guys running in shorts, left over loppet luminaries, broomball, ice sculpting, the beauty of winter, and kite skiing.

You can see the rest of the photos here.

It was a good day.

P.S. The moon tonight is beautiful, I love that I can lay in my bed and watch it.

It *was* a magical winter day. The temps were perfect, I didn't have to put my mittens on until the end. I am glad we decided to do that instead of going to a play.

Hey, I ran around Calhoun on Saturday! It was a little chilly getting started but was fine once I got going; I was totally wearing shorts too. It seemed really Minnesota running around in shorts while people were ice fishing on the lake.

I was in jeans, a sweater and my puffy down coat and I didn't even zip my jacket until the wind picked up. It is funny how you get used to the temperature. If I had been running I think I would have worn shorts too. :)

Yay for great weekend weather!

I saw a news piece on these ice sculptures but the lady they interview didn't have good taste in "art" in my opinion. She had covered her yard in ice "sculpture" which just looked like chunks of colored ice frozen in cheap tupperware and tossed about her yard. The ones you took pics of are nice. I LOOOOOVE the hearts and think maybe Seth and I will do this for Valentines day. That's a cool idea to do with a 2 year old!

He just got up to pee and so I showed this to him and he's way excited about it. I think we will make a heart ice mobile. I will have to take pics and post them.

Tomorrow's a full moon, so it should be even better! As long as it's not cloudy...

I think the point was that those were the building blocks for other pieces. It is seriously cool stuff.
