Blood On Our Hands?
Aug. 7th, 2003 01:27 pmYesterday was the 58th anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima. While historians still fight over if it saved more lives then it killed I am reminded of a scene in a movie that I just watched. I watch "Empire of the Sun" for the first time a couple days ago and toward the end of the movie the main character, Jim, who was a Japanese prisoner in occupied China sees the blast of the bomb. While Jim doesn't know what it is, I did and I felt both awe and horror at the scene.

BTW, if you haven't seen the movie, I would recommend it. It is "Graveyard of the Fireflies" sad.
