When I attempted to correct them, my manager looked squarely at me and said, "We're not saying it like that. We're not French."

More like "shi-pot-lay" or "chi-pot-lay." The 'po' in 'pot' is pronounced like the 'po' in 'poke' in this case (long o), and the 'shi' is pronounced like 'shiv' (short i).
