Article

This is the article that prompted last night's questions. I read this and thought "these seem more like social anxiety".

I don't think being an introvert and having social anxiety is the same thing. I am an introvert because I need down time after social activities. I am not really shy anymore because I have gone through many years of therapy to deal with that. I don't think I can change being drained by people.

That's just a funny post. Fortunately, many of the comments repeat what I said. But it's time people understand these things. The important thing is there is nothing wrong. I have zero problem with concerts. Hell, I LOVE people watching. I *do* enjoy not having to do stuff on the weekend. Joy!

so here's a question: can you be an extrovert with social anxiety? I feel like if social anxiety is a disorder, it should be possible for anyone to have it, but maybe it's more like the far end on a continuum.

yes you can. My mom is a total extrovert but she has social anxiety pretty badly.

I don't think it is as common as introverts because extroverts just get more practice being social because their personality means they meet more people.

Therapy pretty much was me going to social events and not having terrible things happen. I slowly realized that it wasn't so bad.
