Migraine

I am on the forth day of this migraine. It has been a while since I had one this long and it is so annoying. I know I whine when I get them but I hate how much harder things are when I have one. Work is just like banging my head against a wall and I know if I didn't have a headache I would realize this wall was a door. I can barely form a sentence verbally so I know I sound like a dolt. I wish I had something I could take but I am out of options until tomorrow morning. Sigh.

Oddly enough, I've been rough for several days, as well, off and on. It's like the medication can shove the migraine's head under the surface temporarily, but I can feel it's still there, waiting to rage back again. I'm avoiding taking another Imigran, though I'm not sure why because schedule-wise I'm okay to take one now. I keep hoping it'll just start to fade.

I would offer suggestions, but you don't go in for alternative medicine.

But I might, depending on what you mean by "alternative." I don't particularly want to hear about how God will take away my migraines if I just repent and accept Jesus as my saviour, for example, but I've certainly had some medical success in other areas with things like plant extracts, and would be open to hearing just about anything other than "let Jesus fix it."

Being a Wiccan I can guarantee, unless I am being a smart butt, that I will never tell you that Jesus can save you.

I was speaking more of Reiki which is an energy healing technique from Japan. My friend Connie was having bad headaches and I used it on her and they went away for about a month and a half. I would also suggest acupuncture. The needles not only work on muscles, but realign energy pathways in the body.

The only reservation I have about Reiki (and I'll be the first to admit that my knowledge of it is limited) is that everyone who has tried to explain to me how it works eventually gets to a point where they claim, indirectly or otherwise, that there's some magic involved, that you can just hold your hands over someone and wish really hard and abracadabra. While I'm guessing that could easily have a temporary placebo effect that could be mistaken for success, one would have to buy into it in order for that to happen. Unless I'm just misunderstanding how Reiki practitioners claim the technique works, which is entirely possible.

Acupuncture is another story, because although I have heard magic explanations about it as well, there are actual scientific principles that back up at least of some of what acupuncture alleges to do (is this the case with Reiki?). That said, I've had an acupuncture treatment done by a supposedly reputable practitioner, and it didn't do a damned thing except empty my wallet. It doesn't mean all acupuncture is bullshit, of course - after all, sometimes when I take Imigran it doesn't work, either. So maybe I just need to find a more skilled practitioner.

Reiki is a healing technique that uses energy. Most people concede that energy exists. Energy has wavelengths. When energy is forced out of its wavelength, distortion occurs. This distortion can cause pain to manifest in different ways.(That's way over simplified I know, but you get where I am going I hope.) Reiki energy is a universal energy that exists in both time and space and can become a harmonic of the physical world thus connecting all things. With the harmonic being introduced to the currently distorted signal it helps the signal get back on frequency and travel the way it is supposed to thus alleviating the pain.

No clue how you can still be functioning at all with a headache for that long.
May tomorrow morning come speedily for you.
