Scary

I drove to work today. It was scary. Driving itself wasn't so bad but I decided to take 94 because I am someone that feels the need to face their fears. I didn't take my normal on ramp but I got on one ramp beforehand which usually has more traffic (which is why I don't take it) but has more room for you to get over the two lanes you need to get over to stay on 94. Anyways, I don't think we could have been going that fast because traffic is so heavy. Also, I don't think I have every really noticed the insanity that is that area of road before. I just drove it. I don't think I will drive that way anymore even if it is so much faster than anything else I can take. I just wish there was a good way to work.

I hate driving.

Oh, in other news, I feel fine. Either my car did it's job really well, we weren't going very fast or both because the only thing that is sore is my jaw and I am sure that is because I have been clenching it because I am stressed out. I don't even have a seat-belt bruise and I usually bruise easily.

After my car was totaled by a fire truck, it took me a couple of months before I felt okay driving again. And I still tense up quite a bit when I hear a siren. That just sucks - so glad you're okay!

That sucks about your brand-new car! When did that happen? Seems like there's an accident every time I go through there.

Maybe you'd feel more comfortable taking the 11th street exit and going through downtown until they get that bridge fixed? It's often faster than taking 94 right now, anyway, and even if it was slower, it's worth a few extra minutes to not get killed.

How's the car?

It happened yesterday morning on my way to work. It sucks. Also, there is an accident there pretty much every morning.

However, it is time to take a new route. I need to see if I can just get on after the tunnel but avoid the Lyndale/Hennipen mess. Hmm...

I think I saw your car sitting there when I drove through there west-bound. I think I saw you on the highway near there last Thursday, too, but I wasn't sure enough to honk & wave. And it's totally true - there are accidents there all the time. The other end of the tunnel is just as bad. I wish they'd hurry up and finish that damn bridge already.

There are ways around that mess. Lots of ways. Drive around a little bit tonight, maybe get lost, and come up with a Super Secret By-Pass. I'm pretty good at that, actually. It's one of my Useless Superhero Talents.

What time do you drive through there? I am usually driving through that section between 8:30 and 9:00. The offical accident time was 8:47 which is the time we called 911.

This morning when I drove there was an accident at the same place. Sigh. I hate 94. I am thinking about just driving side streets through North Minneapolis.

Yeah, that's about the right time. I try (and often fail) to get to work by 9, so that's exactly the time I was passing through there. Wish I had known it was you, I would have stopped and given you a ride.

If you're coming down from North Minneapolis, I always take the River Road. It's a really nice cruise. You can take it all the way into downtown St Paul from up at Broadway or points north.

Hey, you are like me! So you know the pain of that area. I mean, I have driven it a lot and haven't been in accident before but there has been many near misses.

I didn't get done dealing with stuff until almost 10:30. I needed to call people and just calm down. The state trooper got us out of there and into the church parking lot on Hennipen so I wasn't there for long and my brother came pretty quickly.

I am actually thinking I am going to drive Lyndale and get on 94 that way. If you get in the correct lane on Lyndale it isn't so bad.

You think THAT'S scary? I'm doing a whole webapp FROM SCRATCH doing the design, HTML, CSS, Perl and Javascript!!! Aaaaaaaaaaaah!

[identity profile] bertine.livejournal.com 2010-09-15 03:17 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL. I do that all the time. :P

Really? You do perl? (;

And you should be on IM so I can ask you stuff instead of googling things (;

Wow! On the road so soon after your accident! That's pretty brave, and I think it's good you did it. Driving is lame. The only good thing it has over biking/public transportation is that it's your own personal bubble. You can leave your gym bag in the back seat and not worry about it, whereas you can only tote so much on a bike and you have to hold all of your items on a bus.

I don't really have a choice, I tried to get my dad to drive me to work this morning since he doesn't have anything else to do today. He laughed at me.
