Things Change

Some of you aren't friends with [livejournal.com profile] gwangi, so you haven't read that he has decided not to join the army.

Right now things are still up in the air and will be for awhile. However, I am still going to fix up my condo and sell it on the same schedule because it is time for me to move. By time it is on the market I'll have lived here for 12 years.

Other than that, we are coming up with Plan B as we go along.

I'm glad you two are making these decisions together. :)

We work well together. I actually let him sort this one out himself because I am lucky that what I love to do is a pretty marketable skill. I was okay with moving around with the Army but I think I would rather not move so often. We are now talking about maybe moving somewhere else that would have jobs for me but would be different for both of us.

Wow. WOW. That's huge! Amazing.

I do think he's overreacting a little about the elderly eggs thing, though. 35 is not 40. But I know you have baby rabies anyway.

A little overreacting but one of my good in person friends just had a baby with down syndrome (I haven't written about this on lj at all for various reasons) and it is hard to process it. She is only a couple years older than I am.

Well, that totally changes the whole testices/mustang thing.

And I'm not even going to point out that "Bertine" starts with a "B".

Shee-ra Hambone Really??? That's your nickname???

It's totally good news for me because it means you're not going anywhere soon. So leave it to me to be totally selfish and say Hooray!

The name came about when I was talking with a coworker early on in the relationship. I mentioned that I only date girls with advanced degrees (it's odd, but it's worked out that way), and that my last girlfriend had been a professor. She then asked if Bertine was a professor, and I said, "No, she has a Master's."

"A Master's.....of the Universe?!?!?"

"Yep, I'm dating Shee-ra!"

...and then after I'd started calling her Shee-ra Hambone (which that same coworker had heard when I'd said "Holmboe"), I discovered that I was spelling the name wrong, but by then I didn't care.

That is a way better story than I ever could have imagined.

Yeah, it is a funny nickname but I sort of like it. I am only called that on his lj.

Here is the first use of it.
