Pain

So, my cramps this month are the worst pain, outside of migraines, I think I have ever had. However, this morning I woke up with just normal level of cramps and realized that I don't really remember what the pain felt like. I can remember being so uncomfortable in a meeting yesterday that I wanted to lay on the floor in a fetal position. I also remember waking up through out the night because it hurt so much but I don't remember the actual pain. I think it is interesting how you can forget that.

So, I am in a much better mood today, how are you?

Another reason to rejoin the Y: pain management via movement (plus hotubbing with me and Crystal)!

I have experienced this too, and I find it fascinating how the mind works. I literally CANNOT recreate the way the pain felt at the time. Thank Christ.

I read somewhere that women are especially good at forgetting exactly how pain feels. The article used childbirth as an example, that if women could pinpoint how excruciating childbirth was (sans drugs), no woman would ever voluntarily get pregnant again. Or something.

I know in the 8 years I was on depo I forgot exactly how much cramps SUCKED until I stopped getting the shots and then they came back. OUCH!!!

These weren't even my normal cramps, which suck and I complain about. No this is more like "Should I go to the ER because I am seriously worried that I was stabbed and didn't notice it?" pain. I took *alot* of advil last night and I was still waking up every couple of hours because of the pain.

Maybe you should have gone to the ER. You could have an ovarian cyst that burst or something.

How long have you had your "buddy"? It takes a while until the cramps are manageable. My sister never got to that point. :(

almost 3 months. Plus I only have cramps one-two days a month. It beats the three months of migraines I had this summer on the nuvaring.

OOF. Yeah, that'd be hard to take. Too bad. I liked the nuvaring.

I've had my Mirena for 4 years now and my cramps are bizarre. I'll be toodling along and get stabbed in the gut which doubles me over and brings tears to my eyes... for maybe 5 minutes and then it's over. It took a while to get used to but at least it's short.

I got something like that before I was on the IUD when I ovulate. I am actually not on the Mirena but the Paragard because I am done with hormones. Anyways, next month I am going to try taking aleve BEFORE I get my cramps and see if that helps.

When I first got my IUD put in, I would have cramps like this. When I woke up in the middle of the night, doubled over in pain, I went and laid on my bathroom floor in the fetal position. It helped. Good luck! :(

Ditto. I also used ice packs instead of heating pads sometimes.

I have been tempted to try cold. Now I will.

Yeah, I figured it was just my body getting used to it. It was the day I would get cramps usually.
