Life and Death

Yesterday my grandpa died. It wasn't unexpected since he was on hospice. Still, he had a strong body. I am pretty sure if he hadn't had a DNR they would have been able to save him. However, he was 89 years old and had Parkinson's so badly that dressing him was very much of an ordeal. Plus he has been so hard of hearing and out of it for the last 5 or 6 years you couldn't really talk to him. However, that isn't the grandpa I'll remember. I'll remember the grandpa that made me stuff with my name on it because you couldn't get toys with them. The grandpa that would were silly hats and suspenders. The grandpa that showed me how to grow things, how to drive a tractor and how to butcher a chicken. The grandpa that always had a silly joke to tell us and the one that took my brother and I across the US on a road trip. I'll miss him a lot but in a lot of ways I have already mourned him.

On another note, I don't know if it was stress of yesterday or what but I had a migraine that wouldn't respond to anything yesterday. Multiple Imitrex, Advil, caffeine and even a vicodin. Nothing worked but at least the vicodin made it so I could sleep. I woke up this morning with one still and I am hoping that it will respond today.

*HUG*

Grandpa's are the best! One of mine carved wooden walking sticks for my sister and I and burned our names into them.

I am so sorry for your loss. Even when their minds have been gone for a while, it's still hard.

I'm sorry about your grandpa. It's not been a good year for grandpas--mine died earlier this year too.

That carved toy your grandpa made is really awesome!

I would not be surprised if the migraine was from stress. Grief does crazy things to people.

I lost my grandfather a couple of years ago in November. It made for some sad Thanksgivings.

Your Grandpa sounds like a wonderful man. And I love the fact that he wore suspenders. :)

lots of love to you.
