Migraines

You know what I do whenever I am annoyed at my migraines? I read the [livejournal.com profile] migraines community here on LJ. I mean, I have never gone to the ER for a migraine*, I don't really have too much a problem with holding down a job and as long as I stay away from hormones I only get them twice a month. Not so bad at all.

*This might have more to do with the fact that my mother didn't like going to the ER when we were kids. She made a same-day appointment when I broke my hand.

I ended up at the ER with my very first migraine ever (at 18). I suppose it was a rather severe and/or confusing case, because they kept me in the hospital for the whole weekend and poked every inch of my body (spinal tap is definitely one of my least favorite procedures ever) before discharging me with the "migraine attack" diagnose.

My mom had migraines so that was what we assumed it was until I had a doctor that was sure it was my sinuses so I had sinus surgery. That didn't solve it and 5 years later, after an MRI they realized it was migraines. DUH, that is what I had been saying.

I went to the ER with an ice pick headache once. It was not good times.

It is one of those things where if I got a migraine for the first time I would be at the hospital but getting them a couple times a month means I know they will go away.

I have bad-ish migraines, and I still look at that community and go "There but for the grace of God go I..."
