Vacation

I am really torn right now. This weekend I was hanging out with [livejournal.com profile] gwangi and some of his friends and they were talking about a hike they will be doing this summer. Now, most of you know me and realize that I love things like this. However there are a couple things that make this hard to decided to do. First, I was really looking forward to burning man. Second, I am not that great at higher altitudes. Third, I am not in the greatest shape I have ever been in. Fourth, I sort of have this guideline that I shouldn't plan anything further out with Zach than we have been dating and late July is out of that time period.

Still... Hiking to a glacier with 400 year old frozen grasshoppers in it! Mountains! An excuse to get new hiking boots! (Well... A second excuse since I will be camping with my siblings this summer too)

I was going to make a poll out of this but I have a feeling I may have made my choice already. The only real concern is my stupid migraines that like to happen when I go to high altitudes.

So you can't do both?!

Not enough vacation time. SIGH.

Isn't it possible to plan on going, but not commiting to the plan ticket / accomodations until later?

I think that you'll probably find another use for hiking boots, and you could work on getting into shape between now and then. (I know nothing first hand about altitude or migraines, so don't know what to say about that.)

That is sort of what I was thinking. I could do preliminary planning for both and see which works out. I just like having things planned.

The migraines are something I could look into. I am much better at managing them than I was when I would go to Colorado, so I have some hope with that.

Hey, anything that'd get you out of going to Burning Man...

(start eating vitamin-E for the altitude)

Helps your blood absorb oxygen, which there is less of in high altitudes. You're supposed to start eating vitamin-e like 2 months before you go to high altitudes. I did a bunch of research a few years ago.
