Away

I want to get in my car and drive. I am tempted to just pick some place like the North Shore and drive there and back on Sunday. I started looking around on MN State Park Site and I just want to be outside away from here. Only 6 months until I get to go camping.

I don't think it is possible to drive from my house to your place in one day. However, it is only 5 hours to Canada. Then again I would have to drive back too. <3

I hear International Falls is gorgeous this time of year.

I have never been there but I don't think I am up for driving 10 hours in one day by myself. Maybe I should just go somewhere next weekend.

Did you want to go on a road trip?

[identity profile] gwangi.livejournal.com 2009-02-13 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
I was kidding about IF being beautiful this time of year. And I have plans with a buddy that day anyway. But thanks for asking!

LOL. No one has a sense of adventure. :P

In three months you can come camping in Wisconsin. Practice and all that.

If you are not busy, yes.

Or, since my mother owns the place, we could set something up with a few folks and do it any weekend we wanted. From WI fishing opener until mid September. Unless you really want to rough it with no on site water, then we can go anytime.

YEAH CAMPING!

I have done pretty rough but on-site water is nice to have. Ha!

Put me down as a maybe for camping. I like camping.

You got it.

Mom's place is nice. 100' of lake shore, bunch of woods on the other side of the road. It's on a dead end road so not a lot of traffic. Fire rings. Horse shoe pits. Paddle boat. I love going up there.

You can drive up to Goosebury Falls in one day. It's past Duluth. Two Harbors is nice too.

That is actually where I was thinking about going on Sunday. I haven't been there in winter ever.

I miss Eric and Serinia because one of them would drive up there with me.

Why not go to Palisade Head too? I don't know if you can get in there this time of year. I would think it would be pretty awesome to see Lake Superior in the winter from up there. (Of course be careful you don't go slipping on some ice and fall off the edge of the cliff.)

[identity profile] bertine.livejournal.com 2009-02-13 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
Hey! What are you doing on Sunday?

[identity profile] phoenixredux.livejournal.com 2009-02-13 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
Six months!?! I can't wait six months to go camping! That would be in AUGUST! You'll miss the best camping of the year if you wait that long!

I'm ready to go camping, like, this weekend.

Ok, maybe "ready" isn't the right word. I'm ready mentally. Logistically, not so much.

[identity profile] bertine.livejournal.com 2009-02-13 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
Well... in six months is when I am going with my family. Actually it is more like 5.5 months.

I am totally ready to go camping too. I have a feeling that I will just be going to south park sunday like usual but I really want to get away right now.

You could always drive up to Taylor's Falls on Saturday just for the afternoon. It's only an hour away. You can hike around, and be back home in your own bed for the night.

OH! I forgot about that place. I might do that on Sunday afternoon.

i've had a couple awesome road trips to lake mille lacs - father hennepin state park. about two hours one way.

[identity profile] bertine.livejournal.com 2009-02-13 04:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm... so many options!

[personal profile] pork_chop 2009-02-13 04:02 pm (UTC)(link)
i think the trick to a good road trip is to get (or at least feel) a little lost along the way... adventure!

[identity profile] bertine.livejournal.com 2009-02-13 04:03 pm (UTC)(link)
exactly. and stopping someplace that just looks cool.
