I had to share my hunger

I know! I think I might make that for the Tapas party... Hmm...

I can't wait for the party!

[identity profile] bertine.livejournal.com 2009-01-06 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I know! I am excited! So is Harriet!

I am trying to figure out what I want to make. I wonder if these would be ok room temperature. Hmm...

[identity profile] lisianthia.livejournal.com 2009-01-06 10:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm sure they'd be tasty at any temperature.

I think this weekend I'll make a bunch of options for the party and see how they hold up!

I am also going to make pickle rollups cause I love them.

Ooo Tapas! Now I miss Spain. Are you doing real Spanish Tapas or more just finger foods?

[identity profile] bertine.livejournal.com 2009-01-06 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
It is a potluck, so whatever people bring. I think it will end up just finger food.

Are you on facebook? Will you be in Minneapolis (where I know you don't work anymore) on the 24th?

[identity profile] woodoo24.livejournal.com 2009-01-06 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd love to come. I'm actually flying though MSP on the 23rd. I'll have to see if I can layover an extra day or two. Yeah I'm still up in Toronto for now. Might be back in the TCs this spring.

If you wanted to do a few real Spanish Tapas I could point you in the right direction. I was stationed in Spain for nearly 3 years and married to a Spanish woman for 10 years. I have had more than my far share of Tapas.

Some of my favorites are:

Champiñones al ajillo
Croquetas de Jamón (I like these with chicken too.)
Ensaladilla rusa

And no Tapa party would be complete without Tortilla Española.

Tortilla is probably second only to Paella (a little too complicated for a Tapa party) as a favorite Tapa. I would say that more Tortilla gets served just because its a simpler dish to make. You would be hard pressed to find a Tapa bar without Tortilla. I've got a bottle of Malaga left from my last trip to Spain too. Now you've really got me thinking about a trip back to Spain. :)

I'm not Facebook...just LJ and now VOX.

Well I'll have to be the one who as that actually take away his appetite!

[identity profile] sterlingphoenix.livejournal.com 2009-01-06 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Hehe.

At least I like coconut!

[identity profile] bertine.livejournal.com 2009-01-06 09:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I bet you could use do something like that with tofu. Hmm...

[identity profile] sterlingphoenix.livejournal.com 2009-01-06 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I could maybe do tofu in a creamy coconut sauce...

...with curry...

[identity profile] sterlingphoenix.livejournal.com 2009-01-06 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
You know me, any excuse for curry!

And cheese. Mmm, cheese.
