Cookie Baking Day

So, I was thinking that one weekend in December I would bake a bunch of Christmas cookies. Then I was thinking it would be much more fun if I invited people over to make/bake/decorate them with me.

So, would anyone be interested in baking cookies with me? What weekend would work for people?

i would come! i have a spritz cookie maker/gun thingy.

so far the 6th/7th or 13th/14th would be okay, though i know your work party is the 13th, right? so i dunno how much of me you want to see for a weekend. :)

I am thinking the 6th/7th because the next few weeks would be too close to Christmas.

Ohh, yes.

I did this once, it was super fun.

My schedule is pretty flexible, but I can't do it on the 20th.

Did you do some no bake cookies? I am thinking that otherwise it would be a bottleneck with only having one oven.

:)

No we were using one recipe though. We made about 50 dozen "cowboy cookies" in about 6 hours. We had kind of an assembly line system going, we were a finely tuned machine.

Hmm.... I was thinking of making a couple different cookies but maybe just making one kind would be ok. I'll have to think about it.

The no bake idea is good. There are lots of fun holiday recipes like this. Doing fudge or rice crispy treat kind of things on the stove top would work too.

I was thinking of making sugar cookies then oatmeal chocolate chip. Then we could decorate the sugar cookies while the other ones were baking.

Oh! Rice crispy treat ones would be fun too. We could cut them into cool shapes!

I don't have any holiday cookie cutters, but I do have a bunny!

We could have christmas bunnies!

I actually have some christmas cookie cutters. I'll just have to go through them and see if they are still in shape or not.

We could do a "Watership Down" theme. LOL

You know, I have never read that.

Its a good book. I finally read it not too long ago.

Me either, but I've seen the cartoon. I hear it's a really good book.

I'd be interested, but I'll be out of town the weekend of the 13th.

Please don't make it for the 20th of December. That's the day of the party!

Don't worry, I remember that. :)

When I scheduled my birfday party, I totally spaced on Crystal's party! I almost scheduled it for the very same day! :P

True. I guess it could happen. I would remember when I put it in Facebook though.

Yes! Cookies!

My grandma has this recipe for cookies that you make on the stove and then drop and cool. They are super delicious. They never seem to work out for me (I don't do so well at doing ten things at once with a hot stove), but they are my favorite cookie ever.

I might be up for that!

I'm free every weekend :/

The best way to do it is to pick 4-6 of your favorite recipes (you can get ideas from your guests ahead of time), assign ingredients to people to bring, and make up baking instructions for each of your guests for each recipe. Then take turns making the dough for each recipe. Put dough in ziploc bags with baking instrucions taped on them for each guests to take home and bake in their own oven.

OR

Have everyone bake some kind of cookie at home that will need decorating, such as sugar cookies or ginger bread men, and then bring them to your house for a cookie decorating party.
