:(

My great-aunt Evelyn just died. I knew she was sick but she has been sick for the last 30 years (she had lung cancer around the time I was born) and to tell you the truth I always thought she was too stubborn to die.

I just mailed her a letter yesterday.

I don't know where the funeral will be, hopefully it will be here because I don't know if I could make it to Colorado right now because I am going out of town in a couple weeks. However, she would have told me to go on a trip over going to a funeral, even hers.

This is something she wrote me in a letter last summer that I love:
Advice:
Hike in beautiful places
Take a trip to an exotic place
Buy a new outfit
Do something outrageous
Pet your animals
Write us
Stay healthy

She was the most awesome person. I wish I could be that daring in life.

I can't even explain how much I liked her.

No need to, it's evident in your post. She sounds like she was pretty awesome.

She was the person I looked up to the most in the world.

Then keep looking up to her, and pass on what she gave you to others.

I have lots and lots of letters. We have written back and forth more or less monthly for the last 15 years or so. It is going to be weird not to do that anymore.

So sorry for your loss.

I had a cool, daring, too-stubborn-to-die great aunt. She finally passed away 2 years ago. She was almost 100.

Evelyn was only 79 but really she was living on "borrowed time" for years. I was just thinking I would go out there for the 4th of July to see them.

Aw, that's sad. It's good you got to know her. 30 years is a long time to be sick,

I'm so sorry, bertine.

That's terrible. She sounded like such a cool person. Good luck to her in the next world.
