Singleness

There are three times I don't like being single.

1. When I want to have sex
2. When I think about having a baby
3. When I want to cook

It really sucks to cook for just yourself and while I could go to my parents house and cook for them they don't like a lot of the food I want to try. Plus my dad is watching what he eats so I can't even bake for them anymore.

consider this your open invitation to cook for us or come over and hold babies anytime.

the sex on the other hand...

[identity profile] joeylemur.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll selflessly handle #1. And everybody wins. :)

[identity profile] posthaste.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 04:58 pm (UTC)(link)

What great friends you are.

[identity profile] bertine.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 05:24 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL. Nice of two to take care of everything. :P

[identity profile] bertine.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 05:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I love baking and I am trying to be a better cook.

I love babies, it has to be the age I am now.

[identity profile] eyelid.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 04:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Are you honestly volunteering to cook? like, for free?

cause I am all over that.

[identity profile] bertine.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 05:32 pm (UTC)(link)
The problem is that I am not actually that good of a cook and it takes me forever to cook anything. I mostly need someone that will put up with all my practice attempts.

Though, I am an excellent baker and I was thinking about making petit fours for your tea party. That or an Irish Cream Cheesecake depending on how much time I would have to prepare it though I don't know if you would be able to eat the cheesecake cause it has 1/2 cup of irish cream in it. Hmm...

[identity profile] eyelid.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 05:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not scared of moderate alcohol consumption in pregnancy.

[identity profile] bertine.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Good. Because you wouldn't be able to resist this cheese cake at all.

[identity profile] melissa-maples.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 06:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay, at least there's one reasonable pregnant woman left.

[identity profile] eyelid.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 07:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I also eat sushi.

In fact, I eat lots and lots and lots of sushi.

I am endlessly annoyed at the scaremonger industry bent on shaming pregnant women into eating only bland food supplement bars.

[identity profile] bertine.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
You are my hero. I always figured I would eat sushi and drink some when I was pregnant. Also, I am pretty sure giving up caffeine would be worse for everyone involved than a couple cans of pop a day.

[identity profile] eyelid.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't get drunk when I'm pregnant, but I figure that if a half-glass of wine (which is really more than I ever drink unless I'm trying) can kill a fetus, we'd never have survived as a human race.

As far as caffeine - please.

[identity profile] bertine.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't really drink much but if I am going to dinner and there is wine (or beer) there, I'll have one. And really, I have studied enough history to know that most of human history drinking beverages with alcohol in it was actually safer than drinking water.

[identity profile] akorahil.livejournal.com 2008-03-06 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
Though, I am an excellent baker

Seconding this - Bertine has yet to make something that is/wasn't totally awesome and delicious for pot lucks*.

*One of the hanfull of things I will miss from work.

[identity profile] melissa-maples.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 05:21 pm (UTC)(link)
omg I would eat any damned thing you make. I hate cooking, but I love eating, and the only thing in the whole wide world I won't eat is raisins. Oh, and those silkworm pupae, but that doesn't count as food. I even like innards and all that.

After dinner I will sex you up big style, and then we'll go abduct a baby somewhere and the world will be right again.

[identity profile] bertine.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 05:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I have always like cooking, I just haven't had a lot of people to cook for and I live so close to my parents that I still eat there a lot of the time. So no practice and I still have a hard time figuring out how much salt to use.

I didn't comment on the silkworm pupae because they look like jello with tuna in it that I was forced to eat as a child. Stupid Lutherans.

YAY! I like your plan! It solves everything!

[identity profile] melissa-maples.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 06:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Wait. What? Lutherans... tuna jello... *doing the math*

btw I demand some of that cheesecake at dinner.

[identity profile] joeylemur.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 07:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Isn't that normally called 'lutefisk'?

[identity profile] bertine.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Only if you added lemon flavoring.

[identity profile] bertine.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
That cheesecake would make you the happiest girl in the world. Seriously.

The sad part is no one in my family likes cheesecake expect my sister-in-law who is trying to lose weight. So if I make it I have to eat it all.

[identity profile] sharya.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 05:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Those are three excellent times when you're absolutely right, being single sucks.

Would you like me to describe in horrific detail, the discomfort and unpleasantness of this recent pregnancy and how hideous and horrible I've felt for the last year? Maybe that will help with #2? or would it just make things worse?

[identity profile] bertine.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 05:46 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL. I still want to experience it myself! Not that I want to hear too much about it before hand. :P

When are you going to give birth already. You have to be close!

[identity profile] sharya.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 05:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm so close it's not even funny. Last night I was having contractions that were three minutes apart... they were just really weak and eventually went away. I lost my plug yesterday morning, so it could be any time really.

[identity profile] bertine.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 05:52 pm (UTC)(link)
YAY! Maybe you will start to feel better once you aren't supporting two people. :\

[identity profile] theophania-79.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
you dont need a man nowdays to have a baby. adopt!

[identity profile] bertine.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I want to be pregant. However, I do have that as plan c. plan b is buying some sperm. plan d is spoiling my siblings kids.

[identity profile] eyelikebigbutts.livejournal.com 2008-03-07 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
what's the going rate for sperm these days? is it sold by the gram or the ounce?

[identity profile] bertine.livejournal.com 2008-03-07 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know, I can't afford it right now now aways because of the crappy benefits at work.

[identity profile] mesawyou.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
hmmm . . . sex........

[identity profile] joeylemur.livejournal.com 2008-03-05 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
People talk about it... I think its just a myth.

[identity profile] mesawyou.livejournal.com 2008-03-06 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
Oh I hope not. I'll be more disappointed if sex doesn't exist than when I was when I found out there is no Santa Claus.

[identity profile] misanthropoet.livejournal.com 2008-03-09 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
Pretty soon we'll be neighbors. I could use some lessons...

[identity profile] bertine.livejournal.com 2008-03-09 05:42 am (UTC)(link)
YAY for neighbors!

I don't actually cook that well. It is more that I need to practice.

[identity profile] misanthropoet.livejournal.com 2008-03-09 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, also. I was referring to #3. Er. Um.

[identity profile] misanthropoet.livejournal.com 2008-03-09 05:48 am (UTC)(link)
I'll need to find a home for my Cook's Illustrated, Cook's Country, and Saveur magazines. You are welcome to use them. :)

[identity profile] bertine.livejournal.com 2008-03-09 06:14 am (UTC)(link)
♥. You are so awesome.

I don't think I would use them. I like baking because I bring that to other people but cooking is one of those things that I only get in the mood to do once a year or so.

Cooking for yourself

(Anonymous) 2008-12-14 05:09 pm (UTC)(link)
TRUST ME...when you get married and have kids, you will LOVE the few opportunities you have to cook for yourself. Cooking to please everyone's taste buds is no where near as much fun as cooking for yourself! I SOOOOOO look forward to the times when I can cook for just me...or just me and Abby cuz she eats everything! First thing I do when Gil leaves town is go out and buy tons of mushrooms!

Re: Cooking for yourself

[identity profile] bertine.livejournal.com 2008-12-14 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)
That is the thing, I NEVER cook because I am not going to eat all of it myself and it will just go to waste. :(

BTW, you can have me over anytime for mushrooms. :)
