I am such a dork because I spent the evening look at photos of my neighborhood at the MN Historical Society page. However, I lucked out and found this photo of my building in 1930. It is the one on the left and two of the people on my friends list live in the building on the right.

What is weird is how there is no trees at all.

I love old photos of stuff like that. I'm always looking for old pics and old postcards on EBay. I've got a couple nice postcards from early 1900s but none quite show my building. This is a postcard of the Tama County Courthouse which is directly across the street and the view out the front windows of the store and apartment. They have the farmers market in the courtyard there and sometimes other little events.

Trippy antedifluvian moonscape. Why aren't there trees?
