exactly, life is so much different than it was then that the rules don't still apply. people don't need to be fruitful and multiply, we have too many people as it it.

the worst part is that you just know the people that are telling others this are doing it at a grassroots level so it will be so hard to stop.

Wow, that's creepy. You'd think that church workers would have better things to specifically advise against at least. Why is birth control such a big issue now when it was never a sin until 1834? You'd think the church would have to acknowledge the precedent set by the first 1700-odd years of Christianity. I remember being told that "the HIV virus is ten times smaller than a condom gap" nonsense in seventh grade health by my abstinence practicing gym teacher. How can you justify saying something like that to children? I hope no one took it seriously.

I am sure someone took it seriously and it is true about lamb-skin condoms.

anyways, this whole birth control issue with the catholic church is just weird. i don't get why they even want people not to use it. in a lot of places where people go to the church cfor advise on BC there are already too many people to support and having more will just mean more people to starve.

Maybe we should set up another schism, and get a really progressive pope installed at Avignon. Something has to be done to rid the world of this nonsense...

You know what is sad? Pope John Paul II is one of the most progressive popes in a long time.

WOW!!

Thanks for posting in my journal. I'm a bit embarassed but glad to see someone came by. I'm glad I read that article before I posted. I had no idea the priests were actually telling people that the virus passed through condoms. I'd heard on the radio that the priests were saying people should abstain and not just don't use condoms if you're HIV infected.

The article spoke about some preists who say only 5 Kenyans were infected with AIDS. I hate to say but in some African countries men believe that if they have sex with a virgin they can get rid of AIDS. That's so depressing!!!! Sounds like a bit of education is in order all across the globe.
